It’s clear why custom silicone wristbands are a popular fundraising tool. They’re cheap, can be easily personalized and folks are already used to wearing them. It’s not a tide one needs to row against. But before you fully let go and float down Purchase River, there are some things you show know.
Before discussing the finer intricacies of designing and ordering wristbands, let me introduce myself. My name’s Sean Mulligan. I am a part-owner of WristbandBros.com. We’ve been producing silicone wristbands for six years. During that time, I’ve personally designed thousands of wristbands, including some for notable names like Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and the charity To Write Love On Her Arms. We’ve produced millions of wristbands for fundraisers, big and small.
The point is, I’ve seen a lot and I’ve picked up a knowledge nugget or three. I think they may be useful to you. 4 Nuggets Of Silicone Wristband Knowledge
1. “Today Only” Sales Sometimes Last Years
If you’re shopping around for wristbands, you’ll see a lot of sales described as “Today Only.” They’re designed to pressure you into a sale. Some sites go so far as to create a 15 minute countdown. As someone immersed in this industry, I can tell you that the vast majority of these “Today Only” or time sensitive sales have been running for years. So don’t let something like this rush your buying decision. You do have time to do your homework and look around for your best option.
2. You Shouldn’t Have To Pay For A Back Message
If you’re a person who tends to negotiate, the extra charge for a back message is something you can attack. If you’re ordering an engraved (often called debossed) wristband, there is very minimal production costs associated with adding this second message. This type of wristband is created from a metal mold and the cost of production is the same whether that mold has 1 letter on it or 200. If you call the website you may be able to negotiate on this feature. Not all websites will play ball, but some will.
3. You Shouldn’t Have To Pay For Clip Art
The same logic applies here. There is little to no extra production cost in creating the engraved clip art. It’s either on the mold or it’s not. If you’re looking to save money, call the website directly and ask to have the clip art added free of charge or at a reduced price.
4. Your Design Can Be As Intricate As You Want It To Be
You may visit all of the wristband sites listed on Google and come away with the impression that you have to stick with a simple message, clip art or logo. But the reality is, your design can be incredibly detailed and unique if you want it to be. Contacting the website directly would be your best bet. If you were to call or email our site, we’re willing to work with you on your design so the end product is something to be proud of.
