The Tale of Aldrich Brös

We get a lot of questions about our origin story. Who are these Wristband Bros? Well, it’s time we set the record straight…

The Tale of Aldrich Brös

Long before custom wristbands became a staple of school events and corporate swag, there was a man known as Aldrich Brös (pronounced “brooss,” though he insisted on correcting people with a dramatic “Brööös”). A reclusive Austrian mountaineer from a tiny alpine village no map has ever successfully confirmed, Aldrich was said to scale peaks not for glory, but to “listen to what the mountains were trying to say.” His only companion on these expeditions was a loyal and highly opinionated Chihuahua named JD, who wore a small rope loop around his wrist for reasons no one questioned.

Legend has it that during a particularly ambitious climb, somewhere between the known Alps and what Aldrich claimed was a “taller, more philosophical mountain,” he and JD encountered a mysterious band of climbers wearing brightly colored rings around their wrists. They spoke in slogans. They moved in unison. Before vanishing into a cloud of chalk dust, the climbers left Aldrich with a single phrase: “Express what matters.” JD howled. Aldrich immediately wrote it down on a rock, which he later described as “too heavy to bring home, but spiritually unforgettable.”

Returning from the mountain forever changed Aldrich. He became obsessed with wrist-based communication. With JD by his side, he began crafting primitive bands from whatever materials he could find, including goat leather, braided rope, and at one point, a regrettable attempt involving strudel dough that JD ate mid-prototype. Though early designs were not particularly durable or edible, his vision was clear. The wrist was the perfect billboard for identity, unity, and mildly aggressive messaging. JD became the first official product tester, though his feedback was mostly limited to tail wags and selective chewing.

Years later, after a series of events that historians politely describe as “uncorroborated,” Aldrich’s work found its way to America, where it was simplified, mass-produced, and mispronounced. Wristband Bros was born. Not “Bros” like brothers, of course, but Brös. Always Brös. If you listen closely, some say you can still hear Aldrich and JD in the mountains—one correcting your pronunciation, the other barking in approval.

If you’ve made it this far, you might be thinking… there’s no way this is true.

Darn. You got us.

Wristband Bros was actually started by two brothers, and Aldrich is nothing more than a legendary folk tale. But two things are very real: Our beloved JD, and the 20% off code for our April Fools flash sale below.
