Attorney General Eric Holder is the longest serving member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet. He announced he would be leaving the position last year. As soon as his successor was appointed, out the door he’d go. Easy as pie, right?
This being the United States government, nothing is ever as easy as it sounds. Obama had thought the vote for Holders replacement, Loretta Lynch, would take place in January. Shockingly, we’re here in April and that vote has been continually pushed back. It may be months before the vote reaches the floor. What’s ironic about this is the House of Representatives has been trying to remove Holder for years. In 2012 they tried to get him booted by holding him in contempt of court. And all of a sudden in 2015, now you’s can’t leave.
The irony of the situation was not lost on Holder ex-staffer Adora Jenkins, who printed these “FREE ERIC HOLDER” wristbands and began passing them out around Washiington. We think they’re pretty funny:
When asked about the wristbands by the WSJ, she said:
“I think it’s just gotten to the point where it’s ridiculous how long this has been going on and friends and supporters of the attorney general want to be able to show their support and also have a laugh,’’ said Ms. Jenkins.
Well Adora, you’ve got us laughing, too. Oh, and if you need a reorder of Free Eric Holder wristbands…
