We recently had the pleasure of working with Cory Delorme, a strong advocate for drug and alcohol addiction awareness. His #SoberSquad wristbands were made as hand-outs for school presentations on addiction. Cory knows a thing or two about this subject. He’s a recovering addict himself. His own personal story is what fuels his fight against addiction in young people.
Cory was nice enough to share this story with us. A few years ago, he was in a dark place. He was fighting addiction demons and found himself in a spot where he simply wasn’t winning the fight. The fork in the road was clear: He was going to change himself, or end himself. And thankfully he chose the first option.
Cory checked himself into a detox center and then a rehab center. He focused his efforts on surviving, without drugs or alcohol, one day into the next. It’s been a long and hard journey, but he’s now been sober for over 2 years.
Not being satisfied with just his own personal success, Cory decided he wanted to share his story with others. He began giving presentations at local schools. As a person with an addiction history, he can speak on the issue from a perspective of knowledge and truth. It’s through that experience that he can truly connect with struggling young people. His #SoberSquad wristbands are a nice handout he can give to these students as a reminder of this important message.
We tip our collective caps to Cory and all the great work he’s done, both in improving himself and his selfless contribution to his community. Great work, Cory!
