In one of the biggest upsets in recent memory, the American people appear all-in on green bean casserole:
It’s currently trending higher on Google than sweet potato casserole, stuffing, pumpkin pie Thanksgiving dinner, the Pilgrims…. It seems like if your name ain’t turkey, then you play second fiddle to the green beans.
Out of an abundance of curiosity (and a pinch of free time), I decided to drill down the source of this green bean love. And it turns out certain states love the beans more than others:
Oklahoma is the homeland of green bean casserole. Nebraska, Alaska and Iowa aren’t far behind. Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico and Alabama round out the top ten. Hover your cursor over your home state to see your Google trend rating.
